A red blend carefully selected from our best performing vineyards to showcase the distinctive juicy fruit and soft tannins of our region. Our first vintage, 2012, is a blend of Syrah 67% Pinotage 17% Cinsaut 8% and Mourvèdre 8%. 12-18 year-old, dry-farmed Syrah and Mourvèdre bring sweet spice, juicy dark fruit and delicately integrated tannins that are complemented by textbook Turkish delight and perfume from the old vine Cinsaut. Pinotage produced from bush vine vineyards adds typical red berry fruit and velvety tannins. Our Tormentoso Reserve is a complex wine with freshness, excellent balance, good structure and layers of delicious fruit flavours backed by oak spice from 2 years barrel maturation.

This wine has a delicate perfumed nose of red fruits, hints of chocolate and vanilla spice from the oak. Black forest cake, spice and dark fruit follow through on the palate with finely textured tannins. This wine is made to age for up to 5-8 years with good cellaring.

Hand picked, carefully sorted and crushed into small open fermenters. Hand-punched-down and hand pressed in a small basket press after which the wine was allowed to settle for a few days after pressing. The clean wine was racked to barrel for approximately 20 months with occasional rackings. A combination of new oak and older French oak barrels were used, to avoid over-extraction and to protect the fruit structure. Malolactic fermentation was completed in barrel. No fining or filtration done prior to bottling.
